The MG4 Urban is available with a choice of battery and motor optionsat launch - standard and long range, giving you the flexibility to match your driving pattern and budget.

MG4 Urban Standard Range

• Approx. 42.8 kWh battery (usable), front wheel drive.
• Around 148–149 bhp electric motor.
• 0–62 mph in about 9.6 seconds, with a top speed of 99 mph.
• Official WLTP range of around 201 miles.

This version is ideal if most of your driving is urban and suburban, with regular opportunity to charge at home or work.

MG4 Urban Long Range ‘Ranger’

• Approx. 52.8–53.9 kWh battery (usable), front wheel drive.
• Around 158 bhp electric motor (118 kW).
• 0–62 mph in about 9.5 seconds.
• Official WLTP range of up to about 258 miles (depending on trim and wheels).

Choose the Long Range if you regularly travel further afield, want extra confidence on longer journeys or simply prefer to charge less often.

Inside, the MG4 Urban feels modern, airy and surprisingly spacious for a compact hatchback, helped by its dedicated EV platform and clever packaging.

• Quality improvements over earlier MG4 models, with smarter materials and more solid switchgear.

• Rear seats that comfortably accommodate adults, plus ISOFIX points for child seats.
• Larger boot than the rear drive MG4, thanks to the new platform and extended wheelbase.
• The MG4 EV Urban quietly removed all the cables Wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

MG has also listened to feedback by re introducing more physical controls for essentials like climate and audio on updated models, making the car easier to live with every day.

Charging the MG4 Urban is straightforward and cost effective, particularly if you can use a home charger on an off peak tariff.

• AC home charging (7 kW wallbox) will typically recharge the battery overnight.
• DC rapid charging supports around 82 kW (Standard Range) or up to around 87 kW (Long Range), allowing 10–80% in roughly 28–30 minutes at a suitable high power charger.
• Low servicing requirements compared with petrol or diesel, thanks to fewer moving parts in the electric drivetrain.
• No road tax for pure EVs under current UK rules (March 2026) - check latest government guidance as incentives can change.
