AutoExpress photographers have snapped a heavily camouflaged IONIQ 6 prototype undertaking its winder testing program ahead of the expected launch later this year.
This new model has been designed to take on rivals such as the Tesla Model 3 and the BMW i4, competing with a long-range motor that is said to be capable of doing 311 miles on a charge.
The original unveiling date of this new model IONIQ is understood to be pushed back to the summer to allow for some last-minute design changes that will help push the EV's range beyond the 300-mile barrier that was laid out be last years IONIQ 5.
Currently, it's hard to see exactly what changes have been made to the upcoming model as the prototype is still heavily camouflaged, but is understood to feature different styling such as a longer body and will also be kitted out with the 77.4kWh battery pack that is found in the Kia EV6, rather than the 73kWh unit that is currently in the IONIQ 5.
More information will follow when we know more.
