The all-new Kia Soul EV starts from £32,795

Kia has revised the small, fully-electric SUV which now adds a new powertrain and comes with exterior design changes

Currently, the only model of the Soul EV available to us in the UK was the 'Maxx' trim level, making it easier for you to choose which Soul you wanted.

But the new facelifted variant is set to come in two variants - the 'Urban' and the 'Explore', and for the first time, there will be a selection of powertrains available for this car.

Design tweaks

The facelifted Soul EV features a couple of minor changes to the exterior. At the front, Kia's new badge has been added to the car, down the side of the car the only change that appears to be different is the removal of the 'Soul' badging on the rear pillar, and lastly, at the rear of the vehicle, the rear lights have a new dark tint to them.

Performance

Starting with the entry 'Urban' model, this will feature the 39.2kWh battery (see in the Kia e-Niro) that will provide a range of 171 miles, with Kia saying that recharging the battery from 0 - 80% will take around 54 minutes using an 80kW charger.

The 'Urban' model will produce 134bhp and 395Nm of torque, resulting in a top speed of 97mph and a 0 - 62mph time of 9.9 seconds.

The 'Explore' model, which is the highest spec, is expected to have an unchanged range from the current Soul EV model of 280 miles from the 64kWh battery.

And although it has a larger battery, the charging time is still going to be the same as the 39.2kWh 'Urban' variant. 0 - 62mph for the 'Explore' will take 7.9 seconds and has a top speed of 104mph.

Pricing

The 'Urban' model is expected to be priced at £32,795, with the 'Explore' model coming in at £38,995 - with this model essentially replacing the current 'Maxx' model.
