Updated MG5 EV Launched For 2022 with a 249 Mile Range

  • MG reveals a brand new version of the MG5 EV - but no word on when it will reach the UK
  • 249 miles of range set for the updated version
  • All new aggressive styling and updated interior

MG has revealed to us the brand new facelifted version of it's popular EV model, the MG5, which is set to launch in 2022 although they have only just recently launched the Long Range version of the vehicle which now has a range of up to 250 miles.

This newly updated model will feature a slightly more aggressive look and a hugely updated interior including a new widescreen infotainment display, with the aim of stealing some competition from other big brands such as Kia, Hyundai and Volkswagen.

Unfortunately, up until now, the new model has only been confirmed for Europe but it is expected that the UK will get a version not so long after launch in Europe next year as it benefits MG selling two versions of the car with low prices for electric cars being the main focus.

The European base model of the updated MG5 is set to cost around €30,000 (£25,000 for you and me) with MG saying that there will be two options available on the market, "Comfort" and "Luxury" - which is different from the current models of "Excite" and "Exclusive".

Despite the visual changes to the car, nothing will be changing with the powertrain as it will still be powered by a 61.1kWh battery pack and a 154bhp electric motor, which will provide the car with a range of 249 miles.
