How old do I need to be to hire a vehicle?

The minimum age for hiring a vehicle is 23. The maximum age is 75. A young driver supplement is applicable for all drivers aged 23-24.

How long do I need to have held my licence for?

You need to have held your licence for a minimum of 2 years to be able to hire a vehicle from Chorley Group.

Am I allowed to travel outside the UK?

Our vehicles are not permitted to be taken beyond mainland UK​.

What happens if I breakdown whilst in your hire vehicle?

All our hire vehicles come with 24 hour breakdown cover. Should your rental vehicle breakdown whilst you have it on hire, please contact Kia Roadside Assistance 0800 015 8762.

Can anybody drive the vehicle I have rented?

Only the hirer is permitted to drive the vehicle. Additional drivers can be added onto the insurance at an extra cost providing they meet the Chorley Group driver qualification.

How do I pay for my rental vehicle?

All rentals must be paid for before the vehicle can be taken. This must be by a debit or credit card in the drivers name.

What ID do I need to rent a vehicle?

Valid UK driving licence, DVLA code and 2x proof of address – this must be bank statements or utility bills dated within the last 3 month.

Is there an insurance excess?

Close

Yes. The standard excess is £1000. You have the option of reducing this to £500 for £15 per day.

Do I need to leave a deposit?

Close

Yes. If you choose to take the excess reduction, a deposit of £250 needs to be left. This will then be refunded at the end of the hire provided the vehicle returns in the same condition. Should you leave the excess at £1000, a deposit of £500 needs to be left.

Who has liability for the vehicle?

You, as the Hirer, have full liability for the vehicle. Whilst you have the vehicle on hire, you are liable for any speeding, parking or other road traffic offences. This list is not exhaustiv​e. 

Am I allowed to put my pet in the vehicle?

With the exception of guide dogs and registered support animals, we do not allow any pets in our rental vehicles​.

What happens if I am running late returning the vehicle?

You do have an hours grace period, however anything over this will incur a full days charge.

What happens if I need to keep the vehicle for longer?

Do I need to pay for fuel?

Close

Fuel is on a like for like basis, therefore you need to return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel you took it out on. If you return your rental vehicle without the correct amount of fuel, we will re-fuel the vehicle to the correct amount and you will be charged at that days pump price plus a 25% surcharge.
