Used Car Warranty

All our used vehicles under 7 years old and 60,000 mileage are entitled to mechanical breakdown cover on our 12 month used car warranty with a range of additional benefits.

The Warranty covers your used car in the event of a sudden or unforeseen failure of a Warranted Parts, except for failure caused by wear and tear, normal deterioration or negligence. Your vehicle is eligible for cover if at the date of purchase it's under 7 years old and has less than 60,000 miles on the odometer.

What is covered on a Used Car Warranty?

All mechanical and electrical parts.

During the Warranty Period, all mechanical and electrical parts (except those listed under the section "Excluded Parts") are covered against Mechanical Breakdown on the vehicle.

Together with:

  • Turbo/Supercharger (Factory fitted)
  • Catalytic Converter
  • Air Conditioning (Factory fitted)
  • In car entertainment (Factory fitted and up to a maximum of £100 per claim)
  • Timing belts - Provided there is proof that the manufacturers replacement recommendations have been complied with and they are free from oil contamination.
  • Casings - Cylinder block, gearbox, and axle if they have been damaged by a Mechanical Breakdown of one of the Warranted Parts.

The above parts are covered providing the conditions of this Warranty are complied with.

This Warranty will also cover Your Vehicle for consequential damage, providing damage has not been caused by:

(a) Failure to take preventative steps (for example, the Vehicle being driven with a defective part) or;

(b) Any loss arising from insufficient servicing.

IF:

(a) The failure of a Warranted Part causes damage to a non-warranted part then in this instance both Warranted Parts and non-warranted parts are covered.

(b) The failure of a non-warranted part causes damage to a Warranted Part then in this instance only the Warranted Part is covered.

Excluded Parts on Used Car Warranty?

Parts which are not warranted under the Warranty Agreement:

  1. Lubrication of chassis points, hinges, linkages and topping up fluid levels
  2. Engine oil and filter changes
  3. Engine tuning
  4. Drive belt adjustments
  5. Brake and clutch adjustments and replacements due to wear and tear
  6. Glass replacements due to breakages or impact
  7. Wheel alignment and balance
  8. Spark plugs and leads
  9. Fuel filters and cleaning of the fuel system
  10. Windscreen wiper blades and arms
  11. Lights, bulbs and fuses
  12. Headlight adjustments
  13. Window and doorlock adjustments
  14. Paintwork, trim and chrome defect or damage
  15. Tyres and/or wheel rotation and balance
  16. Items which do not form part of the manufactures original specification of the Vehicle

The parts listed below are excluded from this Warranty but would have been included in the manufacturers warranty:

  1. Batteries
  2. Interior trim
  3. Corrosion to the exhaust
  4. Bodywork

Additional Benefits

If we accept a claim, you may also claim the following additional benefits, but the amount we will pay per claim including these additional benefits, must not exceed the warranty limit detailed om your schedule. You must always get our prior authorisation for these costs.

Car hire:

Costs for car hire for up to 3 days at a maximum of £30 per day (inclusive of VAT but excluded fuel and insurance) will be covered subject to the following conditions:

  1. You accept responsibility for the entire cost of the first 24 hours of car hire, and the cost of the car hire and your accepted claim together, is within the overall warranty limit, detailed on your schedule.
  2. The failure has completely disabled the vehicle and:
  3. The hired car is rented from a bona fide rental operator authorised by the administrator and:
  4. The hire period is limited to the period of the vehicle is in the workshop undergoing repairs or a maximum of 3 days, whichever is less.

Overnight Accommodation:

In respected of overnight accommodation in the United Kingdom, up to £50 per occurrence (inclusive of VAT) provided that the Mechanical Breakdown of the vehicle has occurred outside a 50 mile radius of your address or intended overnight accommodation; and that the vehicle cannot be repaired during the day of the Mechanical Breakdown; and a relief vehicle is not available.

Continental Use:

The warranty is extended for up to 30 days and in any 12 month period while the vehicle is in any country of the EU or EFTA. You must settle the bill and seek reimbursement from us against a repair invoice by sending in the documents listed under 'How to make a claim' to the administrator. The most we will pay is restricted to the equivalent UK rate for labour charges, and for parts at the manufacturers list prices which are current at the date of the claim.
